FREE • MONDAY EVENINGS • ALL LEVELS WELCOME

Your GED. Your Pace.
We'll Get You There.

A free, supportive GED prep program at Smith Public Library — one class a night a week, real support in between, and a clear path from where you are to test-ready.

You're Not Doing This Alone

Every person who walks in on a Monday night made the same call you did. We built this program around real adult schedules — work, kids, and everything else included.

30 Weeks, One Night

September through May, following the school calendar. Just one required night a week.

Free Weekly Classes

Classes and practice materials have no cost to you. Details on official GED testing fees are being finalized.

Real Support Between Classes

Optional virtual office hours and short take-home practice keep you moving all week.

How the Program Works

Three simple pieces, only one of which is required.

Monday Class

2 hours, in person, every week. This is our core time together — the only required night.

Thursday Office Hours

1 hour, optional, virtual. Drop in with questions — no pressure, no sign-up needed.

Take-Home Practice

Short, self-paced online practice between sessions — usually 5–10 minutes.

How Testing Works

Here's the path from practice to your real GED. Details on testing costs are still being finalized by the library board.

1. Practice Checkpoints

After each subject, you take an official practice test to see if you're ready — low pressure, just data.

2. You Clear the Gate

Score green on a subject, and you're approved to move forward toward your real GED test in that subject.

3. Test at the Library

Take your real, proctored GED test right here in a private room — no travel to a separate testing center.

Common Questions

Do I need any experience or a certain reading level to join?

No. We start with a quick, no-pressure check-in on your first night just to see where to focus — whatever your starting point, there's a place for you here.

What do I need to bring?

Just a notebook and something to write with. If you have a laptop or tablet, bring it — if not, we'll have a few available to borrow.

Is there a cost to join?

Weekly classes and practice materials are free. Details on real GED test fees are still being finalized — we'll update this page as soon as that's confirmed.

What if I miss a class?

Life happens — just try to miss no more than one class per subject block so you stay eligible for that subject's practice checkpoint. Reach out and we'll help you catch up.

Do I have to attend the Thursday office hours?

No, they're completely optional. Come whenever you want extra help — skip them whenever you don't need to.
